Position Summary
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School seeks a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Spanish Teacher for Grades 7–12 to join our Languages Department. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, rigorous instruction aligned with the school's Core Knowledge curriculum and instructional methodology.
At the high school level, MVRCS offers the internationally recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, and teaching assignments may include IB Spanish coursework based on departmental needs and candidate qualifications.
The ideal candidate will possess strong content knowledge, a passion for language acquisition, and a commitment to helping students develop proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening in Spanish.
Responsibilities
Implement the established Spanish curriculum and, when applicable, the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.
Teach up to five daily classes within the assigned subject area.
Deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons based on clearly defined learning objectives.
Utilize Core Knowledge and IB instructional methodologies with fidelity.
Assess student progress regularly and communicate performance through progress reports, report cards, and conferences as required.
Collaborate regularly with colleagues in the Languages Department, including the Department Chair, on curriculum, instruction, assessment, data analysis, and best practices.
Maintain a structured and orderly classroom environment through consistent implementation of the school's discipline model.
Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and other required school events.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Languages Department Chair and/or Assistant Director.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Spanish Education, World Languages, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated fluency in spoken and written Spanish.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to analyze student performance data and make instructional recommendations.
Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community members.
Commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
Ability to plan and implement effective instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners.
Knowledge of applicable educational laws, regulations, and best practices.
Successful completion of applicable Massachusetts MTEL examinations within one year of employment.
U.S. work authorization required.
Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the Languages Department Chair. Appointments are made on an annual basis and are subject to yearly evaluation.
