We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant with experience in eCommerce accounting and general accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with internal controls and external regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks related to eCommerce transactions, including revenue recognition, payment reconciliation, and chargeback analysis.
- Manage AP/AR functions including invoice processing, vendor payments, customer billing, and collections.
- Reconcile bank accounts, merchant accounts, and payment gateways (e.g., Stripe).
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and ensure proper documentation.
- Support audits and compliance reviews by preparing schedules and responding to inquiries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, sales, and customer service to resolve accounting issues.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of annual and quarterly budgets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in an eCommerce or retail environment.
- Strong understanding of AP/AR processes and general ledger accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Excel.
- Experience with eCommerce platforms and payment processors is highly desirable.
- Stripe experience is highly preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with inventory accounting and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Knowledge of sales tax compliance across multiple states.
- Experience with ERP systems and automation tools.
