About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to oversee the accounting function of our private equity firm’s management company and provide financial oversight across several portfolio companies. This role involves interfacing with outsourced accounting partners, supporting audits at the portfolio company level, and ensuring strong financial controls and accurate general ledger (GL) mapping across entities. This role will work in Sage Intact and Quickbooks.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and has experience with multi-entity accounting and working with external finance teams. This is a hybrid role, with two required days in the office per week. This role will interact with the investment and Strategic Performance Groups at the firm and will report to the Seven Hills Capital executive leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Management Company Accounting: Manage full-cycle accounting for the management company, including monthly close, financial reporting, and expense tracking. Ensure integrity of all accounting systems (QuickBooks, bill.com, Expensify).
- Portfolio Oversight: Work with outsourced accounting firms supporting portfolio companies; ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, adherence to accounting standards, and consistency across entities.
- Audit Support: Coordinate and prepare materials for portfolio company audits; act as a key liaison between auditors and external accounting providers.
- Bill Pay Oversight: Support and monitor bill payment processes, ensuring timely approvals, proper coding, and alignment with budget and policy guidelines for management company and underlying companies.
- General Ledger (GL) Management: Maintain accurate and consistent GL mapping across all entities; resolve discrepancies and present operational improvements as needed.
- Cash Management: Manage multiple bank accounts, handle ACH payments and wires as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred
- 2 years of direct accounting experience, ideally with exposure to private equity or investment-backed environments
- Experience collaborating with outsourced accounting teams and working across multiple entities
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage Intacct preferred)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
