POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant position assists the Controller with processing all financial transactions (donations, issuing checks, QuickBooks, Bill.com, Q-Give, Salesforce, Shopify), recording monthly journal entries, assisting with month end close process, and other duties as assigned.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounting:
- Process financial transactions in QuickBooks Online.
- Payables – Prepare bills to be paid using Bill.com for final approval by Controller.
- Process donation deposits in QuickBooks using SalesForce, Q-Give.
- Filing financial transaction support
- Other accounting duties, as directed by the Controller
- Serve as a backup for other tasks when the Controller is out of the office.
- Innovate: Look for ways to streamline accounting for ministry areas.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial data analysis.
- Ability to use accounting software to record, store, and analyze financial data.
- Ability to efficiently operate a 10-key calculator or equivalent and other related office equipment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Other:
- Able to react to change productively and handle all other duties/essential tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree Required
- 1-2 Years of Accounting Experience Strongly Preferred
- Non-profit Experienced Preferred
OTHER SKILLS
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals; motivated, energetic self-starter with strong problem-solving skills; good judgment; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; highly comfortable with the computer and Microsoft Office programs. Knowledge of QuickBooks is helpful. Excellent time and self-management skills; strong sense of initiative and ability to work under pressure on multiple projects; ability to work independently.
