What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ski Team Race Coach (Part-Time) position at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe?
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for supporting the development and delivery of Race Ski Team training, including its operations and staff. Instruct and coach U10, U12, U14, U16, FIS or Masters athletes of different ability levels on a full range of racing techniques and tactics. Assist in setting up and tear down of training and race arenas and courses. Support and coach athletes at Far West Races as necessary.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work under pressure, cross-train, multi-task and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to teach entry to advanced level Skiers in race techniques and tactics.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of USSS course setting requirements.
- Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
- Ability to work as part of a diverse coaching team.
- Preferred: USSS/FIS race experience.
- Preferred: USSS Level 100 or higher.
- Preferred: Ability to demonstrate to athletes by example optimal line and technique in training race courses.
- Preferred: Previous experience teaching skiing.
- Required: Be eligible to obtain USSS Coach membership, including SafeSport certification and be prepared to train for L100 certification

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate effectively to staff and athletes regarding policies and procedures.
- Coach ski team athletes in age groups as assigned.
- Observe all applicable safety standards.
- Assist in the general operation of all Ski Team/Ski School activities.
- Set up and tear down of race training venues.
- Provide guidance to athletes in selection and use of equipment.
- Provide feedback and guidance to athletes on techniques and tactics to support skills development and performance improvement.
- Provide coaching support to athletes at Competitions as necessary.
- Assist in preparing training plans for upcoming training sessions.
- Prepare Athlete development plans as necessary.
- Provide feedback to athlete parents as required.
- Assist athletes in race entry selection as required
MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate and cooperate with other departments as necessary in the completion of the above essential duties.
- Provide information and answer questions about the resort to resort guests.
- Any other duties that may contribute to the cleanliness, orderliness and overall efficiency of the entire operation and all of the tasks contained therein.
- Attend Ski Team staff meetings.
- Participate in development of Ski Team curriculum, policy and procedures.
- Repair of team equipment.
- Complete all required paperwork: athlete evaluations; incident reports, etc.
- Attend any assigned training as needed.
- Performs other related tasks as necessary.
