Maintenance Manager – Warren, MI (1st Shift)
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing facility. This role oversees a skilled maintenance team responsible for equipment installation, troubleshooting, preventive/predictive maintenance, and overall plant reliability. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical depth, a continuous-improvement mindset, and the ability to drive uptime, safety, and productivity across all production systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and supervise maintenance technicians and skilled trades personnel, ensuring daily tasks and long-term objectives are completed effectively.
• Oversee preventive, predictive, planned, and emergency maintenance for all plant machinery, tooling, and equipment.
• Set up, maintain, and optimize production tooling and equipment supporting manufacturing operations.
• Manage and continually improve the plant maintenance program using industry best practices, emphasizing planning, scheduling, and reliability.
• Establish, maintain, and optimize the CMMS for work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history.
• Monitor spare parts inventory, supplies, and equipment; manage supplier relationships and initiate reorders as needed.
• Review equipment performance regularly to minimize unplanned downtime and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare maintenance reports, analyze data, and recommend actions to improve plant operations and maintenance effectiveness.
• Ensure maintenance personnel are properly trained, equipped, and motivated; maintain and update training materials and operating manuals.
• Plan and schedule maintenance activities to minimize production interruptions; manage overtime, workload distribution, and vacation scheduling.
• Conduct meetings on maintenance skills, safety, and company policies; resolve job-related issues fairly and in alignment with company standards.
• Support plant leadership with objective setting, performance reviews, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred (experience may substitute).
• Minimum 5 years of relevant maintenance or manufacturing experience.
• At least 3 years of leadership or management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and tooling systems knowledge with the ability to interpret schematics and blueprints.
• Proven experience with PC/PLC controls (programming and application).
• Strong communication skills with the ability to train, lead, and develop maintenance teams.
Preferred Experience
• Automotive manufacturing background.
• Experience implementing or managing CMMS systems.
• Knowledge of preventive/predictive maintenance practices.
• Familiarity with spare-parts management, supplier coordination, and maintenance purchasing.
• Ability to leverage data, reporting, and root-cause analysis to drive performance.
