Summary Description:
This Safety & Security Manager position is responsible for working with operations, maintenance, staff functions, and Union Leadership to ensure regulatory compliance, develop initiatives and programs to promote safe work practices and improvements.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide leadership to support and assist all levels of management in achieving the facility and corporate goals for reduction of work-related injuries.
- Zero injuries is our goal.
- Assist in planning, creating, and implementing programs and processes to maintain a workplace that meets or exceeds federal and state safety requirements.
- Expert in all regulatory requirements, industry standards and local safety matters including integration of Health, Safety, Security and best practices into the facility.
- Experience in and knowledge of paper/pulp industry standards and process safety management (PSM) requirements.
- Ensures a proactive approach to injury prevention and reporting.
- Oversight of the facilities contracted security staff, in-house emergency response teams, and property protection programs.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and support company initiatives.
- Lead safety training and risk assessment initiatives.
- Coordinate mill safety initiatives with Safety Team.
Required Experience and Education:
Minimum Required Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in occupational health and safety (OHS). safety engineering, industrial hygiene, or related field experience will be considered. Proven leadership with demonstrated effectiveness in an industrial safety environment.
