What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Engineer position at Movement Search & Delivery?
Responsibilities
- Lead the plant’s time study program, ensuring accurate and consistent labor standards across operations
- Perform detailed time and motion studies on production processes to establish and validate labor standards
- Analyze work content, identify inefficiencies, and recommend process improvements based on observed data
- Maintain and update labor standards within the ERP system and ensure routings reflect actual production conditions
- Partner with supervisors and operators to ensure standards are realistic, clearly understood, and consistently applied
- Conduct periodic audits to ensure standards remain accurate as processes, equipment, or staffing change
- Analyze and improve plant layouts, machine placement, and material movement
- Control, audit, and continuously improve part routings within the ERP system
- Identify bottlenecks and implement sustainable throughput improvements
- Lead plant-wide efficiency initiatives aligned with safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals
- Maintain accurate standardized part costing models
- Use time study data to ensure labor assumptions in costing models reflect real production performance
- Apply DMAIC methodology to eliminate waste and improve margins
- Partner with Finance and Operations to drive cost transparency and accountability
- Create, maintain, and improve SOPs and work instructions
- Ensure time studies are completed timely and annual routing audits are executed
- Implement systems thinking to improve plant-wide coordination
- Improve tracking of downtime, OEE, capacity utilization, and routing accuracy
- Support new product introduction with accurate routings and labor standards
- Ensure manufacturing readiness for aerospace, defense, and transportation customers
- Partner with Engineering and Quality to proactively eliminate launch risk
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering (or related field) or equivalent hands-on experience
- 3–7 years of manufacturing experience with a proven ability to influence & lead others
- Proficiency with: Time & Motion Studies, ERP systems and part routing control, Standardized part costing, Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma, and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
