Position Summary: Social Studies Teacher
The Social Studies Teacher works as part of a collaborative academic and treatment team to support student safety, learning, and growth. You’ll lead a classroom of residential students, develop engaging lesson plans, assess progress, and create an environment where students feel supported and capable of success.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver instruction, grading, and assessment aligned with curriculum standards
Develop lesson plans, assignments, tests, and progress reports
Implement and support Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Monitor and implement classroom behavioral interventions as needed
Maintain accurate and timely academic documentation
Supervise and collaborate with teaching assistants
Participate in curriculum development, faculty meetings, and professional development
Support school activities, including field trips
Communicate effectively within the academic and treatment teams
Maintain confidentiality and uphold MPA policies and procedures
Represent Mount Prospect Academy professionally to families, communities, and partner agencies
Qualifications & Requirements
Required:
Must be 21 years of age or older
Bachelor’s Degree required
NH DOE certification / teaching license (K‑8 or high school content area)
2 years of teaching experience in general and/or special education (middle or high school preferred)
Preferred:
Degree or coursework in Social Studies or related field
Experience working with youth with emotional disturbances, attention challenges, or mental health needs
At least two years of experience working with children or youth (e.g., teaching, coaching, camp counselor, childcare, parenting)
