Regional Controller – South Plainfield, New Jersey
The Regional Controller oversees all financial aspects of assigned business unit, lead financial reporting, manage internal controls, and provide financial analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making. This collaborates closely with business leaders, and focuses on driving profitability, cost management, and performance optimization.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the all financial close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage revenue recognition for service contracts, I&T, monitoring, and project work
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and financial reviews
- Analyze variances in financial performance against budget, forecast, and prior periods
- Participate in the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes
- Develop financial models to evaluate business initiatives, investments, and pricing strategies
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to business unit leadership
- Provide actionable insights to improve margins, cash flow, and return on investment
- Support contract review, capital expenditure analysis, and resource allocation decisions
- Monitor and control operating expenses, headcount, and capital spending
- Identify risks and opportunities; recommend corrective actions to meet financial targets
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting efficiency
- Manage, mentor, and develop finance staff supporting the business unit (if applicable)
- Collaborate with Corporate Finance, Accounting, FP&A, and other cross-functional teams
- Promote a culture of financial discipline, transparency, and accountability
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience
- 3 years in a leadership role
- Experience supporting project accounting, WIP reporting, and recurring service revenue
- Multi‑branch or private‑equity‑backed company experience is a plus
- CPA and/or CMA strongly preferred
- Willing to travel regionally 25% of the time
- Fire protection, life safety, construction, facilities, or service‑based industry experience a plus
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
- Experience with Sage Intacct and/or Service Trade software systems
- Experience with acquisitions, integrations, or rapid growth environments
Salary : $135,000 - $150,000
