Job Description

One of the country's largest companies is searching for an accomplished OT Security Architect to join their engineering team 100% remotely. In this impactful role, you’ll help define secure operational technology architectures that shape the future of the business while playing a vital role in advancing cybersecurity across complex industrial environments. Your work will directly strengthen the company’s resilience, drive innovation, and ensure safety and operational excellence—making this an exciting and visible opportunity for the right candidate.

This exciting opportunity to design and guide OT security begins as a 6-month W2 contract with standard hours of 8:00 AM–5:00 PM in either the EST or CST time zones (with some flexibility available). This is a remote position but requires approximately 10% travel to Columbus, IN. Details regarding benefits, extension or conversion potential, and onsite requirements should be confirmed by the hiring team.

• Lead the strategy, design, and implementation of OT security architecture across major initiatives and industrial sites
• Partner with cybersecurity teams to ensure OT security strategies align with company-wide goals and a robust OT cybersecurity vision
• Serve as a primary advisor and resource for OT Security Analyst support
• Develop and maintain secure reference architectures for manufacturing, remote access, and additional OT solutions, according to IEC 62443 and NIST SP 800-82r3
• Drive technical designs for secure remote access, network segmentation, zoning, and conduit models
• Identify, evaluate, recommend, and help deploy OT security technologies, including visibility, endpoint protection, monitoring, vulnerability assessment, and identity/data security solutions
• Lead design reviews and provide comprehensive guidance to engineering teams, system integrators, IT and manufacturing IT, and cybersecurity stakeholders
• Translate high-level cybersecurity requirements into actionable and secure OT architecture solutions
• Support OT security needs in merger & acquisition (M&A) scenarios, greenfield projects, and international industrial operations
• Participate in cybersecurity tabletop exercises and ongoing OT security improvement initiatives
• Ensure OT architectures are aligned with industry controls and frameworks such as IEC 62443, NIST SP800-82r3, CISv8, and NIST CSF
• Report progress and insights to leadership teams and champion a collaborative security culture

Skill Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related discipline (Please confirm required education level)
• 7–12 years of experience working with industrial networking and OT/ICS environments
• Extensive background in OT network architecture, DMZ design, secure remote access, monitoring platforms, network segmentation, and robust security design
• Deep familiarity with industrial and security standards such as IEC 62443, NIST SP800-82r3, NIST CSF, CISv8, as well as the Purdue, OSI, and TCP/IP models
• Expertise applying Zero Trust solutions for industrial technology environments
• Proficient in balancing workload, safety, operational availability, and security measures in complex settings
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams and leadership

Preferred Certifications

• IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Expert
• CISSP
• SANS OT Security certifications
• CCNP/CCIE/CCDE (with industrial and security emphasis)
• Additional architectural frameworks (Please specify any required or preferred certifications)

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent cyber experience).
