What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at Motion Recruitment?
Our client is looking to hire a Senior Revenue Accountant to support their digital and direct-to-consumer (DTC) business, with a strong focus on subscription revenue and revenue recognition. This is a highly visible role working cross-functionally with finance, tax, auditors, and operations teams in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
This role is hybrid (onsite Wednesdays) through September 2026, then transitions to 5 days onsite.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Own month-end close activities related to revenue recognition (journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis)
- Build and maintain subscription revenue waterfalls in Excel for amortization and reporting
- Partner with cash teams to reconcile credit cards, payments, and cash activity
- Support sales tax reporting and collaborate with internal tax teams
- Work directly with external auditors and support SOX/internal audit requests
- Analyze revenue trends and provide insights to business and sales teams
- Assist with system migrations, workflow automation, and process improvements
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5 years of accounting experience (must be true accounting—not just AP/AR or tax)
- Strong experience with revenue recognition (subscription-based preferred)
- Oracle or other major ERP system experience
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, building schedules)
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset
Nice to Have
- Experience in streaming, subscription, or advertising/media industries
- Familiarity with Recurly, Salesforce, Operative One, or similar tools
- Exposure to payment gateways, banking systems, or cash reconciliations
- Knowledge of sales tax compliance or indirect tax processes
- Experience with foreign currency transactions
