Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Dental Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong background in healthcare administrative support, and proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems or Patient Management Software such as Dentrix.
As a Dental Receptionist, you will manage patient scheduling, assist with insurance verification and processing, and ensure smooth front desk operations while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and customer service. Your role is vital in creating a welcoming environment and supporting the clinical team to deliver exceptional dental care.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage patient check-in and check-out processes using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks.
- Schedule appointments accurately while coordinating with dental providers to optimize daily clinic flow.
- Verify patient insurance coverage, process claims, and handle medical billing using knowledge of health insurance policies including Medicare and HIPAA compliance.
- Collect payments and manage accounts receivable with attention to detail.
- Maintain comprehensive and organized medical records in electronic health record systems while adhering to documentation review protocols.
- Assist patients with inquiries related to scheduling, insurance and membership plans, and appointment logistics via phone and in person.
- Support clinical staff by managing administrative tasks such as data entry, typing, and maintaining office supplies
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a medical or dental office environment with strong clerical skills and familiarity with dental programs such as Dentrix preferred
- Knowledge of dental coding practices for accurate documentation review and billing preferred
- Proficiency in healthcare billing procedures, dental insurance processing, and understanding of insurance policies is highly desirable.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone etiquette and in person.
- Bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Strong computer skills including typing, data entry, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain clinical confidentiality while managing sensitive health information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Previous dental office or healthcare experience combined with knowledge of health information management enhances your suitability for this role.
