Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and assist with patient intake processes using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Schedule appointments accurately and efficiently utilizing dental office management software
- Verify insurance coverage, including Medicare and other health plans, and perform insurance verification tasks
- Manage multi-line phone systems, answer inquiries professionally, and direct calls appropriately
- Handle medical billing and collections using Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth platforms while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Review documentation for accuracy, including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and care plans to support billing processes
- Maintain organized dental records and perform filing of patient documents in accordance with health information management standards
Skills
- Proven experience in dental office or clinic administrative roles with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical coding practices
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth; familiarity with eClinicalWorks is a plus
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing (10 key typing skills) for efficient documentation review and data entry
- Strong understanding of HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems confidently
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Experience with insurance verification, medical billing, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and health information management practices
- Ability to manage front desk duties efficiently while maintaining a friendly demeanor in a fast-paced environment
