JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY:
The Engineering Solutions team consists of a cross-functional group of engineers who support new product development & commercialization, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. The team executes new product development by following a robust and flexible Stage Gate process. Operational excellence is achieved by striving for best-in-class practices and seeking opportunity for continuous improvement in all that we do.
The Project Manager is responsible for aligning a cross-functional team of engineers, sales, marketing, operations personnel, and other functional units across the organization. The role focuses on project scoping, leading and coordination cross-functional teams through a Stage Gate process from product design to production launch phases.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plans and oversees the implementation of multiple assigned projects, making sure that each stay within the stipulated scope, time, budget, and quality expectations.
- Project scope will include overall responsibility for multiple injection molds, assembly equipment, packaging equipment, lining equipment, etc. to launch new or enhanced products.
- Primary function of a Project Manager, regardless of the project scope, is to lead a cross functional project team making sure that time, risks, cost, quality, and resources are delivered within expectations and effectively communicate status to a stakeholder.
- The Project Manager must have aptitude in organization & planning, selecting & motivating team members, scheduling, assigning & communicating action item expectations, and controlling required resources. Foster and implement the engineering solution’s strategic vision, goals, and objectives in alignment with MRP’s overall strategy.
- Meet project financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing or following a given budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; tracking and initiating corrective actions.
- Achieves project objectives and deliverables by:
- Clearly capturing and outlining project requirement
- Contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews.
- Preparing and completing action plans.
- Resolving problems by drawing conclusions from data analysis.
- Identifying areas for system improvements.
- Recognizing the need for and implementing change when necessary; and
- Following Stage Gate process and reporting out project status to leadership team.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/TRAVEL:
- 5 years of experience in Program/Project Management. Ideally in the Plastic Manufacturing Industry.
- A B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline is preferred.
- Required minimum of 5 years in project management for new product development and innovation. Ideally in injection molding
- Must be self-motivated and require minimal supervision.
- Must lead cross-functional teams and be action oriented. Other characteristics: team motivation, have a hands-on approach, capable of influencing others.
- Expert user knowledge and experience with creating project schedules.
- Product/project quoting experience including but not limited to product cost, equipment cost, resource requirements.
- Ideal candidate will have experience with Stage/Phase Gate Process(s) or ISO
- The ideal candidate will be comfortable at presenting and speaking in front of a larger group which may or may not include customers, peers, and management.
- Forward thinking engineer experienced in the design and advancement of innovative technologies. Innovative, idea person.
- Possess strong problem solving acumen. Six-Sigma training is highly beneficial.
- Excellent listening skills along with highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Successful history with working collaboratively with internal and external resources and customers on all levels.
- High technical proficiency including expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Professional image and the ability to effectively represent the company both externally and internally.
- Travel is on an as-needed basis and can peak around 10-20%.
