REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Facilities Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility systems and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous manufacturing operations. This role supports building infrastructure, utilities, and mechanical systems within the manufacturing plant.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility equipment and systems.
- Maintain and repair HVAC systems, air compressors, boilers, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Conduct routine inspections of building infrastructure and utility systems.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Install, modify, and repair facility-related mechanical components.
- Monitor and maintain facility support systems (compressed air, chilled water, steam, etc.).
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Coordinate with external contractors for major repairs or upgrades.
- Support energy efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTITUDES:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and basic electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, weekends, or overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- HVAC certification or EPA certification.
- Experience with industrial boilers and compressed air systems.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Forklift or scissor lift certification.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or TPM principles
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties, the employee willbe requiredto sit and/or stand,talkor hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands,fingersand arms to feel objects or controls, reach with hands and arms. Prolonged standing/walking periods of 12 hours. May berequiredto stoop, kneel, bend,crouchand lift to 50 pounds.

- Food Safety Responsibilities:
- Monitors and verifies activities to ensure that finished goods and raw materials are coming in and out of the facility meet consumer safety and quality standards.
- Complies with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures
- Reports any product or process failures that could impact food safety of manufactured products to the location’s Food Safety Team Leader and submits an appropriate incident report
