Overview
The Mammography Technologist is responsible for producing high-quality breast imaging that enables radiologists to identify potential abnormalities. This role requires strict adherence to established protocols, with a strong focus on patient safety, comfort, and image accuracy. The technologist will collaborate closely with radiology and clinical teams to ensure efficient, high-quality diagnostic outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Perform mammography procedures using proper positioning techniques to capture accurate breast images
- Ensure images meet quality standards and highlight areas of potential concern for radiologist review
- Obtain and review patient history, prior imaging, and supporting documentation
- Prepare exam rooms before and after procedures, ensuring compliance with sterilization and safety protocols
- Assist with breast biopsies and perform routine quality control on imaging equipment
- Maintain efficient workflow and meet established procedure timelines
- Adhere to infection control policies and procedures
- Collaborate with radiologists to ensure image quality and reduce the need for repeat imaging
- Verify patient identity and confirm physician orders prior to procedures
- Adjust and program mammography equipment to capture required imaging angles per protocol
- Maintain strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to breast imaging
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Board Certification required
- ARRT Certification required
- Certified Mammography Technologist (ARRT-M) required
- State License required
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and image accuracy
- Patient-focused approach with emphasis on comfort and care
- Knowledge of imaging protocols and radiology procedures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong communication and collaboration with medical teams
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and quality standards
