Job Title: Kitchen Expo
Department: Kitchen / Front of House
Reports To: Executive Chef / Kitchen Manager / Front of House Manager
Location: Moderna Bar and Pizzeria
Classification: Non-Exempt/ Hourly

Position Overview:
The Expo plays a critical role in ensuring smooth communication between the kitchen and the front-of-house team. This position is responsible for maintaining food quality and accuracy, ensuring that every dish leaving the kitchen meets Moderna’s presentation and timing standards. The Expo must have excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate communication between kitchen and service staff to ensure accurate and timely food delivery.
• Check each dish for correct preparation, portion size, temperature, and presentation before it leaves the kitchen.
• Maintain organization of the expo line, including ticket management and order timing.
• Communicate any menu changes, item shortages, or special requests to the service team.
• Ensure food runners and servers understand order details and table numbers.
• Work closely with cooks to prioritize orders during busy service periods.
• Keep plates, garnishes, and pass areas clean and organized.
• Support teamwork by assisting in other areas as needed during peak times.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation standards.

Qualifications:

• Previous restaurant or food service experience preferred.
• Strong multitasking and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of food presentation and service timing a plus.
• Must have a valid food handlers certification.

• Maintain a clean, professional appearance in accordance with Moderna’s grooming standards.
• Exhibit a positive attitude and sense of urgency.
• Communicate respectfully and effectively with all team members.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods.
• Lift and carry up to 40 pounds as needed.
• Work in a high-heat kitchen environment with varying noise levels.
• Must be able to multi task.
