Concrete Sculptor

Modern Staffing is recruiting for a Concrete Sculptor with painting, troweling and hand sculpting experience for a custom fabrication company located in San Marcos, TX:

JOB SUMMARY:

Sculpt reinforced fiberglass concrete over rebar and lath substructures to create 3D structures using various tools. Apply paints and stains for desired look. Work in collaboration with other technicians to create molds for concrete sculptural pieces.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sculpting Duties:

• Sculpt and shape GFRC (glass fiber reinforced concrete) over rebar and lath substructures to create artistic and detailed 3D structures.
• Use a variety of sculpting tools and techniques to achieve textures, shapes, and designs.
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to realize both structural and creative goals through fabrication.
• Participate in mold creation for concrete products.

Coloring & Finishing Duties:

• Apply polyurethane, acrylic latex paint, and water-based concrete stains to GFRC structures and metal frames.
• Work with wet GFRC concrete
• Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, and priming.
• Match finishes to design plans, blueprints, and customer specifications.
• Use spraying, brushing, and rolling methods to apply coatings.
• Inspect surfaces for coverage, consistency, and quality.

General Responsibilities:

• Maintain clean and organized workspaces, ensuring tools and materials are stored properly.
• Setup and preparation of materials for sculpting and painting.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and wear proper PPE.
• Keep accurate records of work performed, time, and materials used.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent; additional training in sculpture, fine arts, or painting preferred.
• 3 years of experience in sculpting and/or painting and finishing concrete or similar materials like plaster.
• Proficient in sculpting and painting techniques, tools, and safety practices.
• Strong artistic skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret design plans and blueprints.
• Physically capable of lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

SHIFT:
8-Hour Shift
Monday - Friday
8:00am - 5:00pm

PAY RANGE:
$19 - $22/HR (Depends On Experience)
