Modern Staffing is recruiting for an experienced Cook/Kitchen manager for a non-profit organization located in New Braunfels, TX:
JOB SUMMARY:
The position combines responsibilities for meal preparation, kitchen management and food procurement. The position requires an individual who is compassionate, detail-oriented, and committed to creating a safe, supportive environment for residents while maintaining strict compliance with food safety and confidentiality standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must have experience working in an employee, school, hospital or nursing home cafeteria.
- Plan, prepare, and cook balanced meals, accommodating dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards during preparation and service.
- Portion meals to ensure sufficient supply for all residents and maintain posted menus.
- Manage food inventory, ordering, and organize pantry supplies.
- Transport food and supplies from vendors as needed.
- Safely operate organization vehicles for food procurement.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment, utensils, and dining areas according to health and safety guidelines.
- Monitor equipment functionality and report maintenance or repair needs.
- Properly store food items to prevent contamination and maintain organized inventory.
- Participate regularly in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client and agency information.
- Provide operational support to ensure organizational guidelines, policies, and procedures are followed.
- All employees are responsible for observing safety and security procedures as applicable and reporting potentially unsafe conditions to management.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED required, some college preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a current, valid Texas driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance.
Must pass extensive background check, including fingerprinting, drug screen, and driver’s record check.
Valid Food Handler's license or willingness to obtain.
First Aid and CPR certification required (can be completed after hire under agency guidance).
SHIFT:
Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00AM -7:30PM (flexibility required)

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
