Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Medical Oncology and Benign Hematology unit. This position is for the night shift, working 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care in a supportive environment.
Shift & Scheduling
- Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
- Block Schedules: Yes
- Float Required: Yes, to other MedSurg Oncology units
- Variable Weekend Shifts: Based on unit needs
Qualifications
- Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years, with at least 1 year of current specialty experience within the last three years.
- Required Certifications: BLS
- Preferred Certifications: ONS Chemo
Skills
- Telemetry Interpretation
- Telemetry Monitoring
- IV Therapy/Phlebotomy
- Accessing/Managing Ports (preferred)
- Blood Product Administration
- Central Line Blood Draw
- Starting and Maintaining IVs

Patient Care
The nurse will provide care for adult and geriatric patients along their cancer journey. Common diagnoses include:
- Breast Cancer
- Lung Cancer
- Prostate Cancer
- Pancreatic Cancer
- Colon Cancer
- Esophageal Cancer
- Antineoplastic Chemotherapy Encounters
Unit Details
- Cares for all solid tumor cancers, focusing on the entire spectrum from diagnosis to treatment and end-of-life care transition.
- Emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient safety concerning falls.
- Daily Census: 36 patients in a total of 36 beds.
- Supported by an interdisciplinary team, including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Social Services, and more.
Orientation
The first week of orientation will focus on day shifts, with subsequent on-unit orientation led by a preceptor, totaling 72 hours of training.
