Job Description
Position: Athletics Business Manager Job Description: The Athletics Business Manager oversees the daily fiscal operations, budgetary management, and administrative business functions of the athletic department. This position ensures compliance with all university, state, and NCAA policies. The manager works closely with coaching staff, administrators, and the university business office to manage travel, procure goods, process payments, and develop operating budgets. Key Responsibilities Budget Management & Financial Analysis: Develop, monitor, and manage the annual operating budgets for the athletic department and all individual sports programs. Fiscal Operations: Process purchase requisitions, authorize payment of invoices, and manage accounts payable/receivable. Travel and Logistics: Coordinate team travel logistics, including transportation, housing, and meals, auditing expenditures for compliance. Compliance and Reporting: Assist with NCAA , EADA , and university compliance reporting on operational revenue and expenses. Contracting and Procurement: Secure bids, negotiate contract pricing with vendors, and prepare Request for Proposal ( RFP ) documents. Staff/Assistant Supervision: Supervise student assistants or junior staff, including training and work assignments. Revenue Generation Support: Assist with ticketing reports, marketing partnerships, and fundraising revenue reports and projects Game day operations staff support: Assist with game day operations as needed Other duties as assigned by athletic director
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, sports management, or a related field. Experience: Work experience in athletic administration, business management, or accounting. NCAA Knowledge: General understanding of NCAA rules and regulations regarding financial reporting, scholarships, and compliance. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and experience with financial systems (e.g., Banner).
