Job Description
The Coordinator of Employee Relations plays a vital role in promoting a supportive, engaging, and compliant work environment at the college. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources, the Coordinator is responsible for leading employee engagement initiatives, delivering training on college employment policies and procedures, overseeing the administration of annual employee evaluations, and coordinating comprehensive onboarding and orientation programs for new personnel. Additionally, the Coordinator will maintain a retirement guidance program for current employees and assist in the recruitment process by supporting hiring activities and representing the college at career fairs and outreach events.
Job Duties
Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Human Resources, the Coordinator of Employee Relations position is responsible for duties including, but not limited to: Plan, coordinate, implement, and participate in employee engagement events and initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Design and deliver training sessions for employees and supervisors on college employment policies, procedures, and workplace expectations, ensuring understanding and compliance across departments. Provide oversight and support for the college's annual employee evaluation process, including training supervisors on performance appraisal procedures and monitoring timely completion and submission. Partner with the HRIS Analyst and stakeholders to optimize usability and user interface design of all HR platforms, reports, and programs. Assist in the onboarding process of new personnel by ensuring a smooth transition and integration into the college environment, including benefits coordination, policy review, and systems access. Develop and manage a comprehensive retirement guidance program, which includes regularly scheduled in-person educational sessions, one-on-one retirement planning support, and coordination of on-site retirement education seminars with PERS of Mississippi. Serve as the lead organizer for the college's New Personnel Orientation program, working collaboratively with departments to provide a comprehensive overview of institutional policies, mission, and culture. Support recruitment and hiring processes for staff and faculty positions by assisting with job postings, screening processes, interview coordination, and communication with candidates. Represent the college at career fairs, community hiring events, and recruitment-focused outreach initiatives, promoting the college as an employer of choice. Serve as a resource to employees and supervisors on workplace concerns, offering guidance on conflict resolution and fostering a respectful and equitable work environment. Track and report on employee engagement metrics, orientation feedback, and recruitment efforts to inform continuous improvement. Collaborate with the HR team on broader departmental goals and provide coverage or support across HR functions as needed. Serve on district-wide committees for events and other employee-related functions. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Human Resources.
Mandatory Qualifications
Earned Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in employee relations, labor relations, benefits, recruitment, training, or human resources management. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with individuals and groups at all levels. Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple demands. Skilled in using various software applications and digital platforms to create effective training materials and presentations.
Desirable Quali Ications
Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field. In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices. Prior experience in a higher education setting. Experience developing and implementing employee engagement and retention strategies. Proven knowledge of HR metrics.
