This Position is for a Finance Clerk V with a public university located in Gulfport, MS.

Job Description: The position reports directly to the Dean of Business Services at the Harrison County Campus. The position serves as the Office Manager overseeing all operations of the Business Office and the Business Office employees.

Job Duties

  • Oversee Business Office staff and all operations pertaining to Campus Business Office processes.
  • Collaborate with District Business Office and Human Resources on payroll, employee benefits, leave guidelines and general business services processes.
  • Maintain current and accurate information regarding employee benefits and insurances.
  • Prepare and maintain worker's compensation.
  • Maintain complete records for all hiring packages for job vacancies under the Dean of Business Services.
  • Review and obtain appropriate signatures on all hiring packages, to include adjunct and overload payroll, before sending to Human Resources/Payroll.
  • Process hiring paperwork on part-time employees under the Dean of Business Services to include e-verification.
  • Work with District Business Office and Human Resources to assure the accurate billing of employee insurance, annuities and other benefits.
  • Coordinate leave input and time card due dates with various departments.
  • Input hourly payroll twice a month and leave once a month, maintaining all accurate records.
  • Input student payroll hours once a month, as provided by the Financial Aid Office.
  • Maintain personnel records including all leave totals for college employees.
  • Serve on Campus Early Alert Committee.
  • Serve on the Emergency Response Team.
  • Serve on various designated committees as directed by Campus Vice President.
  • Plan and manage the business office involvement in the orientation and registration process.
  • Evaluate all Business Office staff yearly.
  • Upgrade skill level and performance through EDP.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Dean of Business Services or Campus Vice President.

Mandatory Qualifications

M(1) Associate's Degree in a business related field.

M(2) 2 years of office experience in business related field.

M(3) Experience in the operation of computers with proficiency in Internet, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

M(4) Experience working with payroll processes.

M(5) Effective communication and organizational skills.

Desirable Qualifications

D(1) Bachelor's degree.

D(2) Human Resources experience.

D(3) Experience in Banner software.

D(4) Supervisory Experience.
