What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary - Artist in Residence position at Minot State University?
Artist In Residence
The Artist In Residence shall be entitled to:
- Studio Space – Given a dedicated space for their work
- Will work around student use of facilities
- Monthly stipend
- Opportunities to sell work in the Made at Minot State gallery store at the NAC
The Artist In Residence will be responsible for:
- Integration into the student community in the art department/commons/studios for a minimum of 15 hours/week.
- Facilitate opportunities for community and connection among students including mentoring students, including but not limited to workshops and events.
- Directing the Hartnett Hall Gallery (HHG) and assisting the Flat Tail Press Gallery (FTP) under the advisory of MSU Art faculty.
- Attendance, participation, and assistance with opening receptions and special events, including recruiting events, NOTSTOCK, and visiting artists.
- Keeping personal studio and spaces used in good condition
- General department assistance including, but not limited to grading, class preparations, cleaning, covering courses for faculty when needed, studio management and keeping facility equipment-maintained.
- Attending faculty meetings as requested
- Abiding by Minot State University Code of Conduct
Additional Opportunities May Include:
- Opportunities to teach and lead paid workshops in MSU Open Studios
- Paid demonstrations in MSU courses
