Midwest Co-Pack in Winona is looking for a Packaging Line Lead. An effective leader with a stong focus on high output, but guided with a stong focus on safety.
Position Summary
The Line Lead oversees the daily activities of a production or packaging line to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency. This role coordinates team members, supports machine operators, monitors workflow, and helps meet production goals while maintaining GMP and company standards. This position will ensure that all measures for Food Safety and Good Manufacturing are followed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Lead and direct packagers and support staff on the line.
· Set up the line at the start of shift and verify materials, labels, cartons, and components are correct.
· Monitor line flow and adjust staffing or tasks to maintain efficiency.
· Ensure correct codes, labels, and materials are being used for each job.
· Communicate job expectations, changes, and priorities to the team.
· Conduct in-process quality checks (codes, seals, counts, weights, packaging quality).
· Ensure all team members follow SOPs, GMPs, allergen controls, and quality requirements
· Remove and report defective product, packaging, or materials.
· Complete and verify production paperwork accurately.
Responsibilities:
· Determine focus & direction of shift.
· Provide directions, coaching, and support to employees on the line.
· Train new employees and assist with cross-training current staff.
· Communicate any issues—quality, safety, or mechanical—to supervisors immediately.
· Encourage teamwork and help resolve minor conflicts or questions.
· Ensure Food Safety Practices.
· Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
· Ensure compliance with standards and development of related programs and procedures.
· Evaluate team members’ performance with Supervisor on a regular basis.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
· Previous experience in production, packaging, or warehouse environment required.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Leadership experience or prior lead role preferred.
· Effective problem-solving abilities (both interpersonal and operational).
· Ability to effectively train/coach employees in program requirements.
· Ability to successfully coordinate several activities concurrently.
· Ability to work autonomously.
· General knowledge of HACCP, SSOP, GMPs, SOPs, Safety, and training programs.
· Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and time management.
· Machines, tools, equipment and/or work aids that may represent, but are not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this job.
· The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals & job safety analysis, etc.
· The ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
· Able to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, and staff.

· Morning Shift Training Schedule 6:00 am – 2:00 pm Monday – Friday, then transitioning over to the Afternoon Shift
