We are seeking a Distribution Engineer to support a growing portfolio of electric utility distribution projects across North Carolina. This role focuses on the design, analysis, and execution of overhead and underground distribution systems ranging from 4kV to 35kV.You'll work alongside a highly respected engineering team delivering reliable, modernized power infrastructure for major utility clients.
Job Description
- Design and develop overhead and underground distribution systems (4kV-35kV)
- Perform line routing, voltage drop, and load calculations
- Create construction packages including plan & profile drawings, BOMs, and specifications
- Utilize tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS platforms
- Conduct field data collection, site visits, and constructability reviews
- Support storm hardening, grid modernization, and reliability improvement projects
- Coordinate with utilities, municipalities, and internal engineering teams
- Ensure designs meet NESC, NEC, and utility standards
The Successful Applicant
A Successful Distribution Engineer Should Have
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2 years of experience in electric utility distribution design
- Strong knowledge of overhead and underground distribution systems
- Experience with utility standards and permitting processes
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar design tools
- Understanding of NESC and safety regulations
- Competitive hourly pay ranging from $55 to $65 USD.
