Responsibilities
- Supervise daily powder coating operations, ensuring all work meets established quality standards and safety protocols.
- Lead and train team members on proper use of spray guns, airless paint spraying equipment, hand tools, and power tools for coating applications.
- Interpret production documents, specifications, and work orders to accurately prepare surfaces and apply coatings according to project requirements.
- Maintain equipment such as spray guns, machining tools, and conveyor systems; perform routine inspections and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Ensure proper handling of materials, including materials handling procedures for powders and paints, while adhering to environmental and safety regulations.
- Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and respiratory protection gear, to safeguard team health during coating processes.
- Conduct visual color comparisons and surface inspections to verify coating consistency, finish quality, and adherence to color standards.
- Support construction painting surface preparation, auto body repair finishing, and industrial painting tasks as needed within the facility.
- Promote a culture of safety by adhering strictly to safety protocols, including PPE use and hazard awareness during all manufacturing activities.
Skills
- Proven experience with powder coating processes, including conventional spraying techniques such as airless paint spraying and spray guns operation.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to manufacturing equipment, machining tools, power tools, and conveyor systems used in finishing operations.
- Ability to interpret production documents accurately and follow detailed work instructions for surface preparation and coating application.
- Knowledge of quality standards in production environments with an emphasis on visual inspection techniques like color matching and surface finish assessments.
- Familiarity with construction painting surface preparation methods, auto painting techniques, and auto body repair finishing processes.
- Competence in handling hand tools, measuring tools, respirators, PPE adherence, and safety protocol enforcement within an industrial setting.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to coating thicknesses, material usage, or production metrics.
- Experience working with materials handling equipment such as forklifts is preferred but not mandatory.
