Role Description The Maintenance Mechanic/Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Kentwood, MI, responsible for maintaining and repairing production equipment and facility systems to support safe, continuous operations. Day-to-day tasks include performing preventive maintenance on automated powder coating lines, material handling equipment, ovens, conveyors, and support machinery, as well as troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues. The role involves conducting corrective repairs, replacing or rebuilding components, and documenting work performed in a maintenance computer system. The Maintenance Mechanic/Technician collaborates with production and quality teams to minimize downtime, supports equipment upgrades and installations, follows safety and lockout/tagout procedures, and helps identify opportunities for process and reliability improvements. This position is first shift 6a - 2p, M-F with occasional Saturdays.


Primary Responsibilities

•         Follow all safety procedures, including PPE and Lockout/Tagout requirements

•         Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment across the powder coat line, including conveyors, spray booths, ovens, and pretreatment wash systems

•         Maintain HVAC systems (rooftop units, zone dampers, ductwork), plumbing, pumps, and burn-off/oven equipment

•         Perform routine mechanical upkeep including greasing motors and bearings, changing filters, belt inspection/replacement, and lubrication schedules

•         Perform basic welding and fabrication for equipment repairs, guarding, racking, and fixture modifications

•         Use Limble CMMS to plan, schedule, and complete preventive maintenance tasks and document work orders

•         Complete accurate maintenance, repair, and purchasing documentation

•         Operate forklifts and lifts after required training and certification

•         Install new or upgraded equipment within defined skill scope

•         Support pretreatment bath system upkeep, including pH probes and chemical feed equipment, as needed

•         Train and support maintenance helpers as assigned

Minimum Requirements

•         High school diploma or GED

•         Three or more years of combined technical training and maintenance experience

•         Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills

•         Basic welding ability (MIG)

•         Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance systems (CMMS)

•         Authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Requirements

•         Experience with Limble CMMS or similar preventive maintenance software

•         Experience in a powder coat, paint line, or industrial finishing environment

•         HVAC/refrigeration certification or equivalent technical credential

•         Knowledge of burn-off oven operation and controls

•         Basic PLC diagnostics

•         Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work safely at heights

Compensation & Benefits

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location. $25 - $32 Hourly.
