What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Analytical Chemist position at Messina Talent Advisors?
Seeking a Temp Senior Analytical Chemist for a 12 week contract with our client in Londonderry, NH. The client is a Health & Nutrition Products Manufacturer with over 50 years of scientific expertise to harness the power of real food and premium nutrients to make trusted vitamins and supplements. The Senior Analytical Chemist will support the qualitative and quantitative analysis of food and dietary supplement ingredients and products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Routine testing on raw materials, bulk, and finished products
- Performs physical testing techniques such as Loss On Drying (LOD)
- Performs instrumental analytical testing techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and HPTLC
- Performs chemical testing techniques such as titration, Allergen ELISA, pH, moisture, and water activity
- Prepares chemical reagents needed to perform routine testing
- Aids with chemical tracking and disposal
- Accurate, legible, and timely records of analytical and physical testing; both manually and with the use of a computer
- Reviews/issues manufacturing paperwork, analytical department paperwork (data review, SOP updates, etc), and may be asked to work on other documentation projects and tasks as directed
- Recognition of aberrant data troubleshoots equipment & testing issues and performs timely and thorough laboratory investigations that get to root causes
- SOP and other procedural document updates and improvement including but not limited to method improvements, equipment qualifications/maintenance
- Supports training new hires
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Requires a bachelor’s (four year) degree in chemistry or a related field
- 3 - 5 years laboratory experience
- A competent knowledge of chemistry practice and theory including methods validation and use of laboratory equipment such as HPLC, ICP, and UV
- Working understanding of applicable FDA/ICH guidelines
- The ability to work independently and to effectively prioritize and plan multiple work activities with varying deadlines and complexities
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
- A working knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, procedures, and instrumentation used in a chemistry laboratory
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Physical demands and working environment
- Must be able to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
