Seeking a chemist to provide accurate, efficient, and timely analytical services to clients, analyzing samples using advanced detection techniques while contributing to laboratory innovation and process improvements for an international analytical laboratory committed to global food health and safety.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Sample Analysis & Testing
- Perform sample analysis following documented SOPs and validated methods
- Operate chromatographic equipment with conventional, MS, and MSMS detection
- Utilize vendor software (Agilent, SCIEX, Waters) for data interpretation and reporting
- Enter test data into LIMS and ensure accuracy
- Conduct simple and complex multi-screen analyses for routine and non-routine samples
- Schedule activities to meet client deadlines
Quality Control & Compliance
- Maintain reference materials and working standards per LAB/SOP requirements
- Compile Internal Quality Control (IQC) data and perform trend assessments
- Conduct secondary reviews for quality, accuracy, and ISO17025 compliance
- Ensure proper safety protocols and PPE use
Technical Development & Support
- Troubleshoot procedures and coordinate resolutions with senior staff
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on instrumentation
- Develop and update controlled documents and SOPs
- Assist with equipment recommendations, implementation, and method optimization
- Contribute to R&D projects and special assignments
Mentorship & Training
- Train and mentor junior chemists
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members
Continuous Improvement
- Propose and implement process improvements
- Participate in training programs and professional meetings
- Stay current with analytical techniques and technologies
Required Education & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Chemistry or related science from four-year institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience considered
- Minimum 1 year hands-on experience with Gas or Liquid Chromatographic instrumentation (conventional, MS, MSMS detectors)
- Specifically, we are looking for candidates with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in ICP-MS analysis
- Experience analyzing and producing data packages for various dataset sizes
- Proficiency with analytical software: Agilent MassHunter, OpenLAB CDS, SCIEX Analyst/MultiQuant/OS, Waters Acquity
- Experience in fast-paced commercial laboratory environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- High emotional intelligence and cultural awareness
- Proficient in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
