Summary:
The Intermediate Test Technician performs moderately complex electrical, mechanical, and functional testing on Mercury’s aerospace‑grade and defense‑grade electronic assemblies. This role supports production by executing detailed test procedures, performing troubleshooting on failures, and ensuring compliance with Mercury’s quality, safety, and security standards.
- Key Responsibilities:
Perform functional, environmental, RF, digital/analog, or system‑level tests (depending on product line) using manual and automated test equipment.
• Set up test stations, fixtures, instrumentation, and software according to established procedures.
• Read and interpret test documentation, schematics, wiring diagrams, traveler packets, and engineering instructions.
• Collect, verify, and accurately record test data in MES/ERP systems, ensuring traceability and compliance with AS9100 and internal standards.
• Perform basic to intermediate troubleshooting to isolate failure modes (cables, components, assemblies, configuration), Component level trouble shooting.
• Execute re‑tests, validation checks, and limited rework as permitted under Mercury procedures. - Trouble shooting/repair of the test stations as needed
• Escalate complex failures or recurring issues to Senior Technicians, Test Engineering, or Quality.
• Support product acceptance requirements, configuration verification, and release-to-production tasks.
• Follow ESD, safety, quality, and security controls, including ITAR handling requirements.
• Assist in reviewing and improving test procedures, workflows, and documentation.
• Provide informal guidance or hands-on assistance to Associate-level technicians as needed.
• Participate in 5S, Lean, and continuous improvement activities within the test area.
• Maintain test equipment functionality and report calibration or maintenance issues.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in fields such as Electronics Technology, Automated Industrial Technology (AIT), or related engineering technology fields.
- Typically 5 years of experience in electronics, RF, mechanical, or system‑level testing.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as schematics, wiring diagrams, work instructions, and test procedures.
• Working knowledge of test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, function generators, or automated test systems.
• Good understanding of ESD controls and electronics handling.
• Strong documentation accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Must be eligible to work with ITAR‑controlled products.
Preferred Skills (Optional):
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or rugged electronics manufacturing.
• Familiarity with ERP/MES systems (e.g., Oracle, FactoryLogix, or Mercury equivalents).
• Understanding of root cause analysis tools and data capture.
• Experience with environmental, thermal, or vibration test chambers (if applicable).
• Background supporting NPI or engineering test builds.
