POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Case Manager assists adults and youth seeking training and employment services through the One-Stop Career Center. The role includes assessing participant eligibility for grant funding through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and other available funding sources in accordance with guidance from local, state, and federal entities. The Case Manager works in conjunction with department leaders, colleagues, and community partners to identify participant barriers and create individualized employment plans that include services such as basic skills remediation, occupational skills training, on-the-job training, and internships with the ultimate goals of increasing an individual's marketability for employment in labor demand occupations and meeting the needs of local employers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct brief assessment, eligibility determination, and Case Management meetings with adult and youth customers in keeping with WIOA legislation and guidelines
- Identify customer barriers and educate them about MCOTES services and community resources that can assist them in achieving their goals
- Educate customers about basic skills testing requirements and remediation options
- Communicate with basic skills instructors to assess student progress
- Assess customer career history and goals and collaborate with them to develop individualized employment plans
- Collect and organize required documents according to the file checklist and submit updates to MIS manager
- Enter required data into the One-Stop Operating System (OSOS) within 24 hours.
- Update OSOS comments on a continual basis and in a timely manner within 24 hours
- Update required spreadsheets on a continual basis and submit reports as requested to ensure accuracy of case management data
- Contact enrolled customers and review their status on a regular cadence to ensure awareness of their progress and receipt of documents related to performance measures
- Provide follow up to customers after program completion and job placement in accordance with established follow-up procedures
- Facilitate customer orientations and workforce readiness workshops as needed
- Have familiarity with outside community resources and make referrals when applicable
- Participate in trainings provided by NJ Department of Labor, Garden State Employment and Training Association, Mercer County, and others assigned by MCOTES Leadership
- Have a comprehensive understanding of WIOA Title I eligibility guidelines
- Have a comprehensive understanding of policies and procedures related to unemployment insurance such as Additional Benefits during training (ABT) and Work Search Waivers (WSW)
- Have a comprehensive understand of Tuition Waiver eligibility guidelines and procedures
- Communicate with vendors about training options and customer enrollment, progress, and completion
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications, or a combination of both education and experience. Thirty (30) semester-hour credits equal one (1) year of relevant experience:
Four (4) years of professional experience providing career guidance, case management, or customer supportOR
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, social work, or an equivalent area of study
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 Suite, particularly Excel, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint
