Key Responsibilities
- Verify patient identity and review medical records for exam appropriateness.
- Interview patients to gather medical history and assess risk factors.
- Explain procedures, including risks, benefits, and follow-up instructions.
- Set up equipment and acquire high-quality images as per physician orders.
- Review images, make initial observations, document deviations, and communicate findings to radiologists.
- Recognize and respond to medical emergencies appropriately.
- Provide post-care instructions prescribed by physicians.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, including patient flow, care quality, and satisfaction initiatives.
- Educate residents, students, and new staff on imaging procedures.
- Take call or standby shifts as required.
- Registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARMDS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography (S).
- Must complete American Heart Association (AHA) BLS training by end of orientation.
- Obtain specialty registration within 12 months of employment.
