Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT)

Role Overview: Responsible for providing respiratory care treatments, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to patients of all ages. Performs routine and advanced procedures, monitors and manages oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, and reports arterial blood gases and EKGs in accordance with physician orders and policies.

Qualifications: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, current State of Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license, NBRC certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, and BLS certification from the American Heart Association. No prior work experience is necessary.

Skills and Abilities: Must have proficient computer skills, including data entry and retrieval, and be familiar with Windows applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for educating patients and collaborating with team members.

Key Duties

• Perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures following established policies.
• Document clinical information accurately.
• Educate patients and staff on treatments and procedures.
• Provide patient care tailored to age-specific needs, respecting privacy and communication preferences.

Additional Requirements: Physically capable of performing demanding tasks, including heavy lifting, bending, reaching, and working in environments with exposure to blood and body fluids. Flexibility to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays, and travel between facilities is necessary.
