We’re seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Senior Accountant to join our client's collaborative Accounting team in Springfield, Missouri. In this role, you’ll support the financial operations of a large employee-owned (ESOP) staffing organization by maintaining accurate financial records, supporting close and reporting, and identifying opportunities to improve processes and controls. This is a team-first environment—cross-training and stepping in to support one another is part of the culture.
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (on-site)

This role supports day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close processes, with exposure across branch operations.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end close
- Complete account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Analyze financial data and build reports for management review
- Support annual audits and regulatory reporting requirements
- Review Accounts Payable check runs and verify payment accuracy
- Assist with bank reconciliations, cash management, and fixed asset accounting
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and internal controls
- Partner with payroll, HR, and branch operations to resolve accounting questions/issues
- Day-to-day payroll processing, tax filings, and W-2s are handled by the payroll team
- This role builds working knowledge of payroll to provide backup coverage, help answer payroll-related questions, and assist during year-end peak periods
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- 3 years of progressive accounting experience (preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills (required): formulas, Pivot Tables, and data analysis
- Exposure to payroll accounting, financial reporting, or multi-location operations is a plus
- Strong attention to detail, judgment, and confidentiality
- Able to manage multiple priorities; proactive communicator and collaborator
