Regional Medical Director – Nursing Home / Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Program

Location: Greater Stamford, NY Area (Catskills Region)

Role Type: Full‑Time or Part‑Time / Consulting

Compensation: $300,000 – $400,000 annually depending on scope of responsibility, number of facilities, and travel requirements, plus additional RVU‑based productivity compensation tied to clinical patient volume.

A growing medical group is seeking an experienced Regional Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and oversight for skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) across the greater Stamford, NY / Catskills region .

The Medical Director will oversee clinical quality, regulatory compliance, and physician collaboration while helping ensure high‑quality geriatric and long‑term care services are delivered across participating facilities.

This position is ideal for a physician with experience in nursing homes, geriatric medicine, or post‑acute care who is interested in providing medical leadership and supporting the expansion of regional nursing home clinical programs.

Position Overview

In addition to medical leadership responsibilities, the Regional Medical Director is expected to maintain an active clinical presence within participating facilities. The provider will typically see approximately 25–30 patients per day while supporting clinical oversight and quality initiatives across the program.

The Regional Medical Director will work closely with facility administrators, Directors of Nursing, attending physicians, and clinical teams to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations while supporting clinical quality initiatives and program development.

The role may include oversight of multiple nursing homes and long‑term care facilities throughout the Catskills and surrounding areas.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide medical leadership and oversight of nursing home clinical services
  • Ensure medical services, policies, and procedures comply with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Coordinate medical care and maintain communication with attending physicians and facility leadership
  • Monitor the quality and scope of care delivered to residents
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs
  • Assist in the development and review of facility policies related to medical care and resident services
  • Participate in committees including Infection Control, Safety, and Pharmacy when appropriate
  • Review survey results and provide recommendations to facility administrators
  • Assist with development of care protocols, resident transfer procedures, and clinical policies
  • Support continuing education and in‑service training programs for facility staff
  • Serve as a liaison with attending physicians to promote compliance with regulatory standards
  • Assist with credentialing and oversight of physicians and practitioners providing services within facilities
  • Provide guidance regarding employee health policies and infection control practices
  • Participate in community education, professional outreach, and clinical program development when appropriate

Requirements

  • Active New York Physician license (MD or DO)
  • Experience practicing in Skilled Nursing Facilities or Long‑Term Care
  • Prior Medical Director experience strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of CMS regulations and nursing home compliance standards
  • Experience participating in Quality Assurance or QAPI programs preferred
