What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant (MA) - Neurosurgery position at Medix?
We are seeking high-energy, detail-oriented Medical Assistants to join a fast-paced Neurosurgery and Pain Management clinic. This is a unique opportunity to work in a 50/50 clinical and administrative role, supporting a collaborative team of neurosurgeons, pain specialists, and advanced practice providers.
You'll be part of a dedicated provider "pod," playing a key role in ensuring seamless patient care, from pre-visit planning to in-clinic support.
What You'll Do
Clinical Responsibilities
- Room patients efficiently while creating a welcoming and professional experience
- Record vital signs and document chief complaints
- Perform thorough medication reconciliation and update allergy information
- Support providers during high-volume clinic days (60-130 patients/day across the practice)
Administrative & Coordination
- Manage patient records and schedules using Epic (EHR)
- Conduct detailed chart prep prior to visits (labs, imaging, outside records)
- Request and upload external imaging, reports, and documentation
- Handle ~100 weekly calls (inbound/outbound) for patient communication and coordination
- Collaborate directly with providers to ensure smooth clinic flow and patient readiness
What We're Looking For
Required
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience
- Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)
- BLS certification
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume clinic
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with providers
Preferred
- Experience with Epic (EHR)
- Background in specialty care (neuro, pain, surgical, or similar)
