We are seeking a Clinical Research Manager to join a small but rapidly growing ophthalmology research program with significant expansion plans over the next 6–12 months. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative environment and is ready to help shape the future of a developing research site.
This role reports into Medical Operations leadership and will work closely with clinical coordinators and physicians to strengthen operational structure, support trial execution, and drive program growth. While retina experience is strongly preferred, we are open to candidates with strong clinical research management potential and a desire to specialize in ophthalmology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day operations of a growing ophthalmology clinical research program
- Oversee and support 2 Clinical Research Coordinators with varying levels of experience
- Work closely with 3 physicians to ensure efficient study execution and communication (hands-on, physician-facing role)
- Manage and coordinate active and upcoming clinical trials (currently 3 active, with up to 5 more launching within 6 months)
- Split time between clinical/floor support and management responsibilities
- Support study start-up, recruitment flow, compliance, and overall trial performance
- Collaborate with Medical Operations leadership to build structure, processes, and scalability within the program
- Ensure adherence to GCP, regulatory requirements, and site quality standards
- Help bridge gaps in leadership and strengthen consistency across trials and staff
Ideal Background:
- 1–2 years of clinical research management or supervisory experience
- Background in ophthalmology or retina research strongly preferred (open to non-retina with strong interest)
- Experience managing or supporting a small clinical research program
- Comfortable in a hands-on leadership role, not purely administrative
- Strong communication skills with physicians and clinical teams
- Able to adapt, multitask, and “wear multiple hats” in a growing program
- Confident, credible presence with ability to work alongside experienced physicians
- Growth-minded with interest in advancing into a Director-level role within ~5 years
Program Environment:
- Small, high-potential ophthalmology research program with significant growth trajectory
- Currently 3 physicians and 2 CRCs, with increasing study volume
- Collaborative but physician-driven environment with opportunity to build structure and influence operations
- Culture is professional, polished, and relationship-driven with high visibility to leadership
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience at academic or high-profile research institutions (ophthalmology preferred)
- Familiarity with research compliance, certifications, and regulatory oversight
- Prior experience scaling or building a clinical research program
If you're a motivated clinical research professional looking for a leadership opportunity with real growth potential in ophthalmology research, we’d love to connect.
