Accounts Receivable Specialist – Commercial & Medicare AR
Location: Melville, NY (Onsite)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (37.5 hours/week)
Pay: $25.00–$27.00 per hour
Are you an experienced Medical Accounts Receivable Specialist looking to join a growing healthcare billing team? We are seeking a motivated Commercial & Medicare AR Specialist to support billing and collections for a busy orthopedic and pain management practice. If you're experienced in claims follow-up, resolving denials, and maximizing reimbursements, we'd love to hear from you!
Responsibilities
- Perform follow-up on outstanding Commercial and Medicare insurance claims.
- Investigate and resolve unpaid or underpaid claims.
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), denials, and payer correspondence.
- Prepare and submit appeals to maximize reimbursement.
- Work directly with insurance representatives to resolve claim issues.
- Manage out-of-network claims and billing processes.
- Maintain accurate account documentation and meet productivity goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely claim resolution.
Qualifications
- 2 years of medical Accounts Receivable or medical billing experience.
- Strong knowledge of Commercial and Medicare insurance plans and payer guidelines.
- Experience with insurance claim follow-up and denial management.
- Knowledge of out-of-network billing; experience with IDR and appeals is a plus.
- Proficiency with ICD-10, CPT, and modifier usage.
- Experience in orthopedic, spine, pain management, or other surgical specialties is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
