About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Accounting team in Farmingdale, NY.
This role serves as a key point of contact between customers, Sales, and Accounting to support timely payments while maintaining strong customer relationships. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately posting customer payments, managing customer account activity, assisting with collection efforts, and partnering with internal teams to resolve account issues.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing accounting responsibilities with customer communication in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable Functions:
- Process and post customer payments received via check, ACH/EFT, credit card, and other payment methods accurately and timely.
- Maintain accurate customer account records and assist with account reconciliations.
- Research and resolve payment discrepancies, unapplied cash, deductions, and account variances.
- Prepare and review reports related to Accounts Receivable activity.
- Assist with month-end Accounts Receivable processes as needed.
Customer Collections & Sales Support:
- Monitor customer accounts and follow up on outstanding balances and past-due invoices.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding invoices, payments, statements, and account questions.
- Partner with the Sales team to resolve customer account issues and support ongoing customer relationships.
- Provide updates regarding account status, payment concerns, and collection activity.
- Assist with maintaining positive customer relationships while supporting timely payments.
General Functions:
- Review and reconcile daily driver paperwork and deposits.
- Respond to customer and internal department inquiries.
- Provide support for audits and other accounting department needs.
- Cross-train on additional department functions and provide backup support as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
About You
- 3-5 years of Accounts Receivable experience preferred.
- Experience with customer collections and account follow-up preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Accounting software/ERP experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.
- Successful completion of a background check required.
- Ability to work on-site Monday-Friday.

Pay Range: $25.00–$28.00 per hour
