Lead AV Systems Engineer & Programmer (AVL)
Location: Stow, OH (with regional travel as needed) In-person/Hybrid/Remote optional

MediaNet AV is seeking an experienced Lead AV Systems Engineer & Programmer with a strong background in Audio, Video, Lighting and Control (AVL-C) system design, programming, and troubleshooting. This role is critical to our integration team and requires someone who can envision complete systems, understand how all components work together, and confidently resolve complex technical issues.
The ideal candidate has hands-on AVL experience, has worked in the field, and can bridge the gap between sales, design, installation, and customer training.
Collaborate with Sales and Design teams to create complete AVL-C system designs tailored to customer needs
Translate client requirements into detailed, functional system designs
Produce system drawings, signal flow diagrams, schematics, cable schedules, and equipment lists
Conduct site surveys to validate system designs and recommend adjustments
Utilize design tools such as Q-SYS Designer, D-Tools, Visio, ArrayCalc, and similar platforms
Provide technical guidance during project planning to ensure system compatibility and performance
Develop preliminary and final programming for AV control systems, primarily Q-SYS and IP-based platforms
Troubleshoot and optimize system performance during installation and post-installation
Support commissioning, testing, and system validation
Review Statements of Work (SOWs) and system designs prior to installation
Assist with cable scheduling, routing, and installation planning
Support installation teams as needed, including:
Hanging and rigging speakers, displays, projectors, and screens
Terminating low-voltage cabling (network, audio, speaker, control)
Provide on-site technical leadership and training for technicians
Finalize all project documentation post-installation
Deliver accurate, clear, and user-friendly system documentation to customers
Ensure clean handoff from installation to service
Train end users, staff, and volunteers on installed systems
Create checklists and troubleshooting guides to reduce future service calls
Assist with advanced service calls and escalated technical issues
Respond to customer inquiries promptly and professionally
Stay current with AVL technology trends and best practices
Set and pursue personal and professional growth goals
Proven experience in Audio, Video, Lighting and Control (AVL-C) system design and installation
Strong understanding of how AVL systems function as an integrated whole
Hands-on experience troubleshooting complex AV systems
Experience with Q-SYS design and programming (required)
Familiarity with IP-based AV systems and networking concepts
Ability to read and create schematics, signal flow diagrams, and cable schedules
Comfortable working both in the field and in a design/engineering role
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
This role is not entry-level. Audio, Video, Lighting and Control experience is required. QSYS Level I and II Certifications are required.
