PACU RN

• Position: Registered Nurse - PACU
• Location: Rochester, NY
• Shift: Day 4x10-Hours
• Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
• Start Date: ASAP
• Call Requirement: 2 weekend call shifts a month when we ask for 4 shifts total - 2 weekend and 2 weeknight.

Pay Breakdown:

• Weekly Gross: $2,700
• W2: $30.4/hr.
• Stipend: $1,484 Weekly

Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team in Rochester, NY. In this role, you will provide exceptional post-operative nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring safe, timely recovery while delivering patient-centered care in a fast-paced surgical environment.

The RN will care for patients in both Phase I PACU and Phase II Recovery, monitoring patients throughout the immediate post-anesthesia period, assessing for complications, managing pain, and preparing patients for discharge or transfer. The position supports a variety of surgical specialties, including Endoscopy/Laparoscopic, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Orthopedic Spine, and Orthopedic Total Joint procedures.

Duties

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia in Phase I and Phase II PACU.
• Perform ongoing patient assessments, monitor vital signs, airway status, neurological function, and pain management.
• Recognize and respond promptly to post-operative complications and changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families regarding post-operative care, discharge instructions, and recovery expectations.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
• Adhere to hospital policies, infection prevention protocols, and patient safety standards.

Requirements

• NY State RN license - Required
• Minimum 1 year of recent PACU experience - Required
• Current BLS AHA, ACLS, PALS certifications - Required
• RNs need to have a mandatory competency with phlebotomy as well as placing IVs
