This position has a budgeted rate of $15.00 per hour. The position is classified as a S3. The S3 salary band for all positions at the college within this classification has a minimum rate of $15.00/hour and a maximum rate of $21.01/hour. This is a 40-hour per week position.
Job Description:
Temporary Summer Groundskeepers assist in the maintenance of the college grounds during the summer.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Planting, watering, weeding, mulching, edging, and clean-up of all annuals, perennials, shrub beds, and borders.
- Mowing and landscaping of grounds using all types of power equipment
- Operating various types of equipment, including power mower, saws, edger, shears, light to medium weight trucks to pick up and deliver materials and supplies, and light or medium tractors and attachment used to maintain grounds as needed.
- Assisting with set-ups and major campus events.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications
- Experience on a landscaping, golf course or horticulture preferred.
- Ability to work well with a wide range of people.
- Ability to work weekends, occasional holidays and inclement weather.
- Ability to repetitively lift, carry, and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to repetitively push and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance while kneeling; squatting; reaching above the head; reaching at the waist; reaching below the knees; and bending at the knees.
- Ability to repetitively push and pull equipment (for example, pallet jack, push mower, hand truck) containing product loads a minimum of 100 yards without assistance.
- Ability to repetitively grasp and manipulate objects of varying size and weight requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to exert oneself physically over sustained periods of time to complete job activities.
- Ability to stand a minimum of 6 hours during the workday.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Exposure to operating machinery consistent with care of grounds.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in noise, heat, cold, odors, dirt, outdoor temperatures, snow, steam, and emergencies.
- Ability to lift; carry; and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance as well as being able to kneel; squat; reach above the head, at the waist, and below the knees.
