This position has a budgeted hiring rate of $17.25/hr. This position is classified as a C3. Positions in this C3 salary band have a minimum rate of $16.75/hr and a maximum rate of $24.12/hr. This is a part-time, 10-month position, 20 hour per week.

Job Description:
The Academic Secretary is responsible for providing secretarial /clerical support to students and faculty in the World Languages, Literatures & Cultures and Philosophy. Due to the nature of the role, his position is not eligible for remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine office activities to support assigned academic departments.
- Provides administrative and operational support for multiple academic departments by managing communications, records, scheduling, events, financial and employment documentation, student workers, and departmental resources while supporting faculty, students, and institutional processes to ensure efficient department operations and compliance with college requirements.
- Attend and assist with departmental meetings
- Assist departments with special events and activities and other events (such as field trips)
- Assist with language lab scheduling and activities
- Participate in departmental self-studies
- Assist with faculty job searches working with Human Resources and Department Chair as requested.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- One to two years office management experience required.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of internet, email, Microsoft Word and Excel, copy machines and phones.
- Ability to handle phone calls in a friendly and professional manner.
- Must exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills that include interaction with faculty, students, prospective students, staff, administration, and outside agencies.
