Job Description:

Position: Box Office/Front of House

Revision Date: 07/21/2026

Reports to: Arts Coordinator

Department: Theatre Arts & Music

Salary Grade: Maryland Minimum Wage

FSLA Status: Non-exempt

Location of Position: Alumni Hall, McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, MD 21157

Duration of Appointment: August 5, 2026 to May 25, 2027

Schedule: Schedule is at discretion of supervisor

Evaluation Procedures: Student workers are evaluated on a continuous basis.

Scope:

Provides support to the Arts Coordinator assisting in all aspects of front of house for the Theatre, event promotions, and crowd management for theatre and music events.

Responsibilities:

The daily responsibilities change depending on the needs of the department.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Selling tickets to patrons (counting money, running credit cards)
• Promoting upcoming productions (distributing posters, making social media content, and adding show information to free event calendars)
• Interacting with patrons and conducting great customer service
• Acting as "event technician" for event rentals
• Maintaining the Alumni Hall bulletin-boards
• Making photocopies, creating programs
• Assisting in the overall maintenance and organization of the theater
• Completing crowd manager certification and providing crowd management for theatre productions and music concerts.

Schedule:

• Thursday mornings at 9:30am for 1 to 2 hours
• Must be available for all theatre productions and music concerts

Requirements:

• Must be a current student at McDaniel College
• Must have Federal Work Study as part of their Financial Aid package
• Ability to count accurately and handle money
• Ability to provide excellent customer service to theatre patrons
• Ability to be a positive and constructive team player in a creative community
• Ability to follow strict protocol for operating procedures
• Ability to follow detailed directions across a variety of tasks
• May require training in safety, crowd management, and use of lifts
• Experience in customer service preferred but not required
