What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Testing Laboratory Technician position at MC Squared,LLC?
We're seeking a CMT Lab Technician for our next reservoir project in South Bay, FL (near Sunrise, Plantation, Hollywood, Westin). One of the landmark projects – one of the largest in Florida, if not the entire nation. We need an experienced materials testing lab Technician to conduct routine materials testing assignments, including testing asphalt, concrete aggregate, soil, and other common construction materials in our lab on the project site. Reporting to the Lab Manager the overall responsibilities are:
- Conduct construction material tests for concrete, soil, asphalt, etc., including determination of moisture content, liquid limit, plastic limit, particle density, particle size distribution, dry density etc.
- Conduct aggregate tests including sieve analysis, percent fines passing the No. 200 sieve, relative density & water absorption, bulk density, moisture content, etc.
- Conduct concrete tests including concrete mix design, determination of slump; density of compacted fresh concrete; test cubes from fresh concrete; density of hardened concrete, compressive strength of concrete, etc.
- Conduct concrete pavement tests including flexural strength, modulus of rupture, compressive strength and absorption, and bulk-specific gravity.
- Execute tests following relevant standards and procedures to ensure quality results.
- Use appropriate protective tools to ensure safety requirements are met.
- Test, stores, and logs samples, retrieves cylinders from field projects when needed and disposes of tested samples.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- 2 years’ construction materials lab/field testing experience
- High School Diploma
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal and written communication
- Microsoft Office suite proficiency, laboratory reporting software experience
Preferred Requirements
- A college degree is a plus
- Certified with ACI, NDG, CTQP, and/or NICET in Soil, Concrete, and Asphalt is preferred, however, we will provide paid access to certifications and training where needed
