Position Overview
We are looking for several Production Team Leaders to foster safe, high-quality, and efficient operations within specific production zones. The Production Group Leader will manage daily activities on the floor, deliver hands-on training to operators, aid in troubleshooting and changeovers, and spearhead continuous improvement efforts to help the team reach its operational objectives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Guide, coach, and mentor production team members to foster their development and success.
- Maintain a workspace that is clean, safe, and well-organized for everyone.
- Step in as a backup for the supervisor when necessary.
- Guarantee adherence to all company regulations and procedures.
- Provide support with basic equipment troubleshooting and work with support staff to resolve issues.
- Support and execute changeovers and equipment setups efficiently.
- Ensure the availability and correct usage of required PPE and coordinate projects to improve safety.
- Identify essential tools for production staff and confirm their availability.
- Review and initial production boards every hour.
- Perform daily 6S audits and ensure that any findings are addressed promptly.
- Utilize kanban and customer forecasts to coordinate daily production scheduling and ensure targets are met.
- Direct production staff to achieve safety, quality, and productivity goals.
- Manage product hold locations and ensure timely resolution.
- Lead team meetings to communicate objectives, priorities, and opportunities for improvement.
- Examine daily OEE data and confirm its accuracy.
- Communicate new quality standards or process modifications and ensure proper training is conducted.
- Keep precise training records for all team members.
- Offer clear, prompt communication to supervisors and technical services regarding production concerns.
- Complete daily shift reports for all assigned work centers.
- Work overtime as needed, including weekends, to meet production demands.
Education & Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic mechanical aptitude (covering mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic systems) is desirable.
- 1–3 years of experience in automotive manufacturing.
- 1–2 years of prior leadership or technical experience within a manufacturing setting.
- Proficiency in performing all functions of a production operator.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively train others.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
