About the Role
We are seeking an EHS professional to champion safety strategy and cultivate a culture of safety. In this role, you will develop and implement safety policies and practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and fostering a safe work environment. Your expertise in OSHA, EPA, and related regulations, coupled with your leadership skills, will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement in EHS performance.
Responsibilities- Spearhead the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the training department to develop and deliver engaging safety training programs for employees, promoting a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
- Lead the investigation of workplace incidents, injuries, and illnesses, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Champion Human Performance principles through training initiatives, the use of specialized tools, and the facilitation of event learning teams to enhance safety performance.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, and HR teams to proactively address safety concerns, mitigate risks, and promote a safe working environment for all employees.
- Manage worker's compensation claims, ensuring timely and accurate processing while supporting employees through the recovery process.
- Organize and facilitate employee-led Safety Committee meetings, fostering open communication, collaboration, and employee engagement in safety initiatives.
- Conduct regular audits to identify existing or potential safety and health hazards, recommending corrective or preventive measures and ensuring their effective implementation.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in EHS or a related field, demonstrating a strong understanding of safety principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state-specific regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply them effectively.
Preferred Skills
- Professional certifications such as CIH, CSP, and/or CHP are highly desirable.
- Experience with hazardous materials management, air permitting, and environmental reporting.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
