What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Legal Assistant (Temporary to Hire) position at Matura Farrington?
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented temporary Litigation Assistant to support a team of attorneys in a fast-paced litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have prior law firm experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys throughout all phases of litigation
- Draft, format, and proofread correspondence, pleadings, discovery, and other legal documents
- Assist with filing documents in state and federal courts (both electronic and physical filings)
- Maintain and organize case files, calendars, and deadlines
- Coordinate depositions, hearings, meetings, and trial preparation
- Manage discovery, including document production, indexing, and review
- Communicate with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel as needed
- Handle billing, time entry, and expense reporting for assigned attorneys
- Perform general administrative duties, including scheduling, travel arrangements, and file management
Qualifications:
- 2 years of litigation support experience in a law firm environment
- Strong knowledge of state and federal court filing procedures (including e-filing)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and document management systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred
